Polyacrylamide, abbreviated as PAM, is a water-soluble organic polymer in the form of white or light yellow granular particles. It dissolves in water and is an important water-soluble polymer. Due to the presence of a certain number of anionic, cationic, and neutral charges in its molecular chain, as well as strong adsorption groups, it possesses valuable properties such as flocculation, thickening, shear resistance, drag reduction, and dispersion. It can be used alone as a flocculation and sedimentation agent for various high-concentration wastewater or in combination with other inorganic flocculants. These properties vary in emphasis depending on the derivative ions. In wastewater treatment, different types (anionic, cationic, non-ionic, neutral) can be selected based on water quality.
